NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Davidson County Jail inmate is facing charges for sending threatening letters to four Nashville judges, authorities said.
According to a news release from the Metro Nashville Police Department, 50-year-old Phaitoon Sean Viryasiri has been in jail since October 2024 for violating his probation in connection with felony assault and burglary convictions.
Officials said Viryasiri is now charged with threatening Criminal Court Judge Khadija Babb, a Class E felony, in retaliation for decisions made when he was a defendant before her.
He is also charged with making harassing threats, a Class A misdemeanor, after he allegedly sent 17 letters between June 20 and June 30 to four Davidson County judges, including Babb, Criminal Court Judge Angelita Blackshear Dalton, Criminal Court Judge Cynthia Chappell and General Sessions Court Judge Ana Escobar.
Police said that in the letters, Viryasiri threatened to harm the judges and/or their families. There were also reportedly threats against President Donald Trump, and the U.S. Secret Service was notified.
The MNPD announced on Wednesday, July 16 that deputies with the Davidson County Sheriff's Office will serve Viryasiri with two new criminal warrants due to his inmate status.
