CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Fredonia Park in Clarksville has seen some big changes over the last few years. Now, the community will get to enjoy even more amenities.

The park has been developed in stages. In 2022, Phase One focused on renovating the old historic school house to turn it into a community center.

On Tuesday, the city will unveil six new pickleball courts, a full-sized basketball court, an open-air pavilion and a quarter-mile paved walking loop.

As Clarksville has grown, the need for recreational amenities and gathering spaces has also grown.

Montgomery County Parks and Recreation Director Sally Read told News 2 there are even more exciting things coming to the park soon, like a brand-new playground. That's expected to be complete in the spring.

Read added Fredonia Park is the only one in the area, so it's important the city invests in it.

"Being able to offer the park aspect as well, places where they can get outside, where families can get out and maybe teach their kid how to ride a bike or learn how to play basketball for the first time," Read told News 2. "All of these really exciting firsts for the kids as well as maybe adults that don't have access to these activities at home closer to their home."

The community is invited to come out to the ribbon cutting at the park. That ceremony will begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30.
