ANTIOCH, Tenn. (WKRN) — Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates history, culture and community.

Here in Nashville, some of those roots are served with a shot of caffeine.

"I feel that you know when you go to your grandma's house, and it is very cozy and nice and beautiful, but at the same time it is full of a lot of things," JOS Fifteen co-owner Juan Pablo described. "That is how I would describe this coffee shop."

JOS Fifteen is a celebration of culture that you can taste.

Every corner reflects its heritage, from traditional sweets and pastries to rich coffee and ice cream.

"I'm from Mexico, and the other co-owner is from El Salvador," Pablo said. "We honor and celebrate by bringing a lot of things from our culture, like our conchas, our Dia De Los Muertos bread."

Each bite offers time to slow and reconnect.

"Back in the day, when we were little, you brought a little concha and everybody would just fight for the concha," Pablo explained. "Now we have the big concha, and you can share and share memories."

With giant cups of coffee and even bigger pastries, Pablo hopes the food and drink bring people together for "cafecito y chisme," or coffee and gossip.

"You have to have something in each neighborhood that is representative of the people and the people that are bringing happiness and warmth," Bee Ferguson, a customer at the shop, said. "You don't want everything to be the same."

For Pablo, this month is all about watching friends and families embrace Hispanic culture and reconnect.

"Friends, they don't see a lot, and they are just reunited here," Pablo said. "That makes me feel happy."

Pablo hopes to expand into other parts of Nashville soon.

But for now, his focus is simple: When people visit, he wants them to leave with more than just a good cup of coffee, but a sense of connection, culture and community.
