NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) is fine-tuning their vision for adding toll lanes, or “Choice Lanes," along I-24 from Nashville to Murfreesboro by hearing more feedback from the community.

TDOT will be holding public information sessions from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the following days:

• Sept. 30 at Smyrna Event Center: 100 Sam Ridley Parkway East, Smyrna, TN 37167
• Oct. 1 at Coleman Park Community Center: 384 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN 37211
• Oct. 2 at Southeast Community Center: 5260 Hickory Hollow Parkway #202, Antioch, TN 37013

TDOT Public-Private Partnerships Communications Officer Rebekah Hammonds said the department will analyze and respond to questions and comments they receive through public feedback, which will be posted online and used in their environmental assessment.

In addition, she told News 2 that each public meeting will be like an "open house" where people can gather more information about the conceptual design, ask questions and show up and leave at any time.

“We are assessing the potential or possible impacts the project would have on the natural and social structure of the community, and so that will influence our environmental assessment and create or help form what's called the recommended preferred alternative,” Hammonds explained. 

Hammonds added that if everything goes well, TDOT is hoping to select a developer toward the end of the year and break ground on the project in 2027.
