CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A popular road in Clarksville that has been under construction for weeks is finally complete.
The last phase of the Dunbar Cave Road realignment project is finished, just in time before the start of the school year.

The City of Clarksville made the announcement yesterday after construction crews worked overtime to finish the road. The Clarksville Street Department accelerated the timeline for the road to avoid construction affecting school bus routes.
The final phase of the project included elevating the existing roadway so that the realignment to Cardinal Lane could be completed at a later time.
Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts says the work was "short-term pain for a longer-term gain". Pitts says the road improvements will improve traffic safety for everyone.
Work will continue in the Dunbar Cave Road area, but traffic will now be back to normal just the same as before.
