CHEATHAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) -- The Cheatham County Sheriff's Office is working around the clock to find about 30 people with warrants, 14 of whom have been taken into custody as of Wednesday afternoon.

Sgt. Ryan Hawkins, who leads the CCSO Warrants Division, helped plan an extensive "warrant round-up." He and other deputies have joined forces with local, state, and federal law enforcement to hunt down the wanted individuals.

"We've got about six teams out right now just all over Middle Tennessee, trying to track people down," Hawkins said.

Executing warrants is not only a dangerous job, but it takes patience and skillful planning. News 2's Kenley Hargett traveled across the county, watching deputies close in on locations where suspects were hiding, whether it was a family member's home, a friend's car, or even an abandoned house.

According to Hawkins, these suspects are often repeat offenders: "Just the constant arresting the same people all the time, it gets frustrating, but it also kind of, I guess, helps. We learn their patterns and know their behaviors."

Those patterns have helped catch a number of suspects. While it's still a challenge, it's one that law enforcement is ready to tackle.

"Some people you want to sneak up on, but some people, like the one this morning, we want him to know we're out there because he's going to get nervous, he's going to make a mistake, somebody's going to get upset and call in and say, 'Hey, this is where he's at,'" the sergeant explained.

If you have a warrant, Hawkins encourages you to turn yourself in because law enforcement will find you eventually.
