PICKETT COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have arrested a 71-year-old man accused of shooting his wife Sunday night in Pickett County.
The TBI said deputies with the Pickett County Sheriff's Office were sent to a home in the 100 block of Eagle Crest Drive on Sunday, July 13 to conduct a welfare check.
According to officials, deputies reported hearing a gunshot once they arrived. Inside the home, law enforcement found 72-year-old Theresa Foutch suffering from a gunshot wound. She reportedly died at the scene.
During the investigation, special agents said they determined that the victim's husband—identified as 71-year-old Johnny Foutch—was responsible for the shooting.
Authorities said Johnny has since been arrested and charged with one count of first-degree murder. He is reportedly being held in the Pickett County Jail without bond.
No additional details were immediately released about the deadly incident.
