NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — At their Monday meeting, Metro's Traffic and Parking Commission approved a lower speed limit for a portion of Clarksville Pike.
The speed limit on the portion of Clarksville Pike between 18th Avenue North and Rosa Parks Boulevard has been lowered from 40 miles per hour to 35 miles per hour. The request for the lower speed limit came from the Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure, according to the commission's agenda.
The move comes months after LiDAR technology was installed along the roadway to monitor the movements of vehicles and pedestrians. The technology is able to be utilized in crosswalk beacons, including pedestrian hybrid beacons that alert drivers to crossing pedestrians.
News 2 has reached out to the Metro Traffic and Parking Commission to learn more about when the lower speed limit goes into effect.
