MADISONVILLE, Tenn. (WATE/WKRN) — Four people face charges after a group of dogs attacked a 71-year-old woman Saturday, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office said.
According to witnesses, between 10 and 15 pit bull mix dogs were involved in the attack against the Madisonville woman in the 2500 block of Fairview Road before bystanders corralled the dogs away from her.
When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they said they found the victim lying on the front porch of a home with "severe lacerations." Monroe County Emergency Medical Service treated her at the scene before she was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
The sheriff's office said detectives and Monroe County Animal Control officers investigated the incident, which led to the following four people being charged with animals at large resulting in a serious injury, a Class E felony:
- Clayton Warren Davis, 65
- Sara June Burris, 44 (who was also charged with possession of paraphernalia, possession of drug paraphernalia, and introduction of contraband into a penal facility)
- Ricky Lee Burris, 57
- Sheila Jenene Kryzak, 54
According to officials, additional charges are pending against all found suspects.
Meanwhile, authorities said Animal Control took 27 dogs from another home in the 2500 block of Fairview Road as a result of the investigation.
