WARREN COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man suspected of being one of the "largest suppliers of methamphetamine" in Warren County has been arrested, authorities announced Monday.

The Warren County Sheriff's Office said 38-year-old Robert "Bobby" Alexander Russell was taken into custody on Saturday, Sept. 6, following a joint investigation, which involved the McMinnville Police Department and Coffee County Sheriff's Office.

According to officials, the 38-year-old from Smyrna is a convicted felon with prior drug convictions out of Cannon County. Russell is reportedly believed to be one of the "largest suppliers of methamphetamine in Warren and surrounding counties."

The sheriff's office said narcotics investigators began an extensive investigation into Russell about two months ago after learning that he had been transporting massive quantities of methamphetamine — approximately two to three pounds per trip — from Smyrna into Warren and surrounding counties for more than a year.

“The arrest of Mr. Russell represents a major victory in our fight against illegal drugs. He was a key supplier of methamphetamine in our community, flooding Warren County with dangerous, life-destroying narcotics. Removing him from our streets is a critical step in protecting our citizens and sending a clear message to other drug traffickers that they will not be allowed to operate here," stated Warren County Sheriff Jackie Matheny Jr. in a post about the arrest.

"This arrest adds to the growing list of drug dealers who have been taken off our streets in recent months. Chief Mosely and I are proud to support our officers and their relentless efforts, and we continue to encourage anyone with information about illegal drug activity to contact our office. Together, we can and will make Warren County a safer place to live," he continued.

Russell was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine (453 grams) with intent to deliver and driving while in possession of methamphetamine.

The 38-year-old is being held at the Warren County Jail on a $150,000 bond, officials said.

No additional details were immediately released.
