Description

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A night out in Antioch turned deadly, and a woman is facing serious charges after her friend suffered a deadly fall while car surfing.

Police said the victim's friends failed to get her immediate medical attention.

Friends said 31-year-old Shannon Kilgore had a promising life ahead of her. She was also a mom to 9-year-old Alaina.

In April, Kilgore came to Nashville from Florida to see friends, including Ashley Sells.

"It's unbelievable," Kilgore's family friend Sean Terrell said. "It doesn't feel real."

"This whole situation is beyond any of us because of the type of person she was," Kilgore's friend Rachel Cuevas said.

The group had likely been drinking.

Police said Kilgore was doing stunts on Sells' car when she was thrown off.

Friends said Sells and another person took Kilgore to an apartment instead of calling 911.

"It's honestly inhumane to look at someone and say 'I love you' but not get them help," Cuevas said.

Hours later, police said that Sells took Kilgore to the hospital, where she died.

Friends said they logged into Kilgore's iCloud account and found videos of her car surfing and falling.

Investigators said that Sells is facing a vehicular homicide charge as a result of the deadly incident.

Shannon's loved ones said they plan to attend upcoming court hearings, wanting justice for their friend and young Alaina.

"Nothing will bring Shannon back but having this person accountable will make all the difference in the world," Terrell said.

Sells is out on a $30,000 bond, and you can follow this link for a GoFundMe set up for Kilgore's daughter, Alaina.
