NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — WeGo could be adding new service routes this winter. These proposed winter service changes will include longer service hours, especially on Sundays.
The new service changes could come to routes 3 West End, 7 Hillsboro and 52 Nolensville Pike. Route 34 to Opry Mills, Route 6 to Lebanon Pike and Route 42 to Golden Valley bus riders could see longer hours on the weekends on their line.
If approved, the new changes could go into effect as soon as Jan. 4, 2026.
WeGo Public Information Officer Eric Melcher said WeGo makes these changes twice a year after hearing feedback from the community. But putting riders' needs first means hearing them out on ways they can continue to improve service.
“It’s what we’ve heard from people over the past couple of years, and then we do short and long-term planning,” Melcher said. “So we’ll say, well, if this service changes, these are the changes we can make, and it’ll help this group of people. But we need to get out to these neighborhoods, so maybe in the summer we’ll do some service proposals for the other neighborhoods. And that really helps us get to the whole community.”
The open comment period for the WeGo service proposal will be held from Monday, Sept. 15, through Oct. 10. The community will see the proposed plans for the winter 2026 service changes and will be able to make comments. Two are virtual and one will be held in person. The meetings will be held:
- Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 6 to 7 p.m., Virtual meeting (Webex); Access Code 2481 905 9537; Password JiE4n7ChyX4; phone 720-650-7664
- Tuesday, Sept. 23, from noon to 1 p.m., Elizabeth Duff Transit Center at WeGo Central, second-level meeting room, 400 Dr. Martin L. King Jr. Blvd., Nashville, 37219
- Tuesday, Oct. 7, from noon to 1 p.m., Virtual meeting (Webex); Access Code 2486 147 3554; Password yyPGTv9pM43; phone 720-650-7664
The need based program is a part of Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell's "Choose How You Move" plan. An overview of the winter service plan will be available on Sept. 15.
