GALLATIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — Agencies and residents alike have spotted a bear in Gallatin.
The Gallatin Police Department posted an announcement on social media Thursday that bear sightings have been reported in the area and, while surprising, it's not uncommon as bears roam the area for food.
A viewer sent News 2 a video of the bear near Starpoint Drive and Browns Lane at about 7 p.m. Thursday.

Additionally, a lieutenant with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency said that the bear had been seen off Old Douglas Bend Road north of the city Wednesday.
Gallatin authorities had the following advice:
- Do not approach or feed the bear.
- Secure your trash can.
- Keep pet food indoors.
- Remove bird feeders so as not to attract the bear to your property.
If you see the bear, authorities advise you to give it space.
