LEBANON, Tenn. (WKRN) — Lebanon police said that a targeted operation ended with more than a dozen people in custody.
All told, 19 people were taken off the streets; Zach Patton, public information officer for the Lebanon Police Department, told News 2 that 15 of those individuals had indictments from the Wilson County Grand Jury on drug and gun offenses.
"This was just a great job by our investigators, detectives and officers on a very collaborative effort to come together and locate all these individuals," Patton added. "...They put time and time and time and their main priority is to keep Lebanon safe. This is just another example of how our officers are dedicated to keep this city safe and serving our community."
A social media post cited an extensive investigation by the department's Narcotics Unit into drug sales within the city limits. The post also revealed that four of those arrested had 11 outstanding warrants.
"We're thankful that we have the resources — the police officers, the firefighters — to protect and serve this city so it's a really great place because of that," Patton said.
News 2 is working to get the names and charges of those arrested.
Patton had one last message for Lebanon residents.
"If you're selling or consuming illegal drugs, you're more than likely going to have an encounter with one of our investigators — one of our officers [or] detectives, so I highly suggest you don't do it," Patton said. "But if you insist on doing it, you will be found and caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
