ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. (WKRN) -- An Ashland City woman used social media to generate a tip that led to the arrest of a man, who is now being held for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

On May 10, a home surveillance system recorded a man on the porch of an Ashland City home. Authorities have since identified that man as 29-year-old Augustin Martinez, a Mexican national who was working construction in Nashville.

Law enforcement said the video shows Martinez apparently trying to open a door and a window, as well as removing a screen.

According to officials, before leaving, the suspect engaged in a sex act on the front porch.

Sgt. Alexis Duncan with the Ashland City Police Department said officers worked extremely hard on this case, adding that the young woman living alone in that home was frightened by the ordeal.

"The victim, she was very upset about it, losing sleep at night," Duncan told News 2. "To have that happen right outside your bedroom window on your front porch is pretty traumatizing."

The case went unsolved for a month before police caught a break thanks to someone who saw the victim's social media post about the incident. The tip brought officers to an Ashland City apartment complex, where they knock on Martinez's door.

Body camera footage shows what happened next:

First officer: "Are you Felipe?"

Martinez: "Uh, sí."

First officer: "Can you step out for me, please? Felipe, can you come here?"

From the start, there was a language barrier.

Second officer: "You speak English?"

Martinez: "No."

Second officer: "A little bit?"

Martinez: "No."

Eventually, police made a positive match on the suspect, thanks, in part, to Google Translate, as well as Martinez's tattoos, which authorities said matched those on the man from the woman's front porch.

"Do you have a tattoo right here?" the first officer asked, pointing at his forearm.

Martinez held up his arm in response.

"Okay, do you have a tattoo right here?" the officer inquired as he pointed at his shoulder, earning a mumble from Martinez before he started rolling up his sleeve. "Yeah? Can I see?"

After taking a look at the shoulder tattoo, the officer said, "Okay, that's him."

On his way to the Cheatham County Jail, the 29-year-old told officers he was the man in the videos, but he claimed he was drinking that day and doesn't remember any of it.

Duncan praised Officer Josh Haire, who worked the case from the beginning and spent time talking to the victim.

"He's been working hard, he's a great officer, I'm glad to have him on my shift. He's just one of those officers that go above and beyond past the call," Duncan said. "He made a difference, and to see the gratification he got from solving the case to relaying that information again to the lady involved was amazing."

Martinez is currently being held in the Cheatham County Jail on charges that include attempted aggravated burglary, public indecency, and vandalism.

No additional details have been released about this case.
