NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Just ahead of Veterans Day, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture announced the launch of online resources for military veterans who want to start farms and farm businesses.
The online resource hub, announced Tuesday, offers everything from help finding grants and funding to step-by-step guidance on expanding existing operations.
"These resources are designed to make it easier for veterans to build meaningful careers in agriculture,” Agriculture Commissioner Andy Holt said. “We’re proud to support those who have served our country and state by helping them find success in Tennessee’s diverse agricultural industry."
In addition to support resources, the hub also features several testimonials from veteran farmers across the state. One of those veteran farmers, Nick Nicholls, entered agriculture about four years after he retired from the U.S. Army.
"We believe we need every farmer we can get, and we’re happy to help others apply for grants," Nicholls said, per the resource hub webpage.
