ROBERTSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) โ Authorities are searching for the suspect involved in a hit-and-run crash in Springfield that killed an 18-year-old motorcyclist Saturday night.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol said the crash occurred just after 11 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of South Main Street and West 21st Avenue. The Honda motorcycle -- operated by Hector Santos Martinez, 18 -- was driving north on South Main Street when a Nissan Xterra heading east on West 21st Avenue reportedly ran through a stop sign at the intersection.
According to reports, the motorcycle's front end struck the front right side of the Nissan, and the motorcycle came to a rest on East 21st Avenue. The Nissan driver reportedly exited the car and fled, leaving the vehicle to come to a stop on East 21st Avenue.
Martinez died from his injuries. Officials said he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
No additional information about the suspect was released.
