LA VERGNE, Tenn. (WKRN) — City offices in La Vergne will remain closed to the public while officials deal with a cybersecurity incident that took place Friday.

According to the City of La Vergne, officials noticed a "network incident" that temporarily disrupted "certain computer systems" on Friday evening.

Upon discovery, the City immediately took affected systems offline and engaged with cybersecurity professionals and law enforcement to assist with response and recovery, La Vergne Public Information Officer Donna Tracy said in a Friday statement.

Employees were also sent home early on Friday, according to the city.

By Monday morning, the City confirmed the offices would remain closed "until further notice" while city officials and a third-party cybersecurity team, the FBI and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation continue to investigate the "compromise in the city's network."

Employees sent home Friday were expected to return to work Monday while supervisors and managers determined work processes.

While systems are offline, the city will be using "old-school processes" to continue the work of the city.

"We are checking all computers on our network," City Administrator Bruce Richardson. "It's going to be a long process, but we are here to continue supporting our community. We ask for patience and understanding as we go through this situation."

The city recommended residents follow the official city social media channels or sign up for Notify Me reports at the city website for updates as they become available.
