NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Construction continues at one of Nashville's busiest parks. Starting Monday, a portion of the walking trail around Lake Watauga it Centennial Park is now closed to the public.
The closure is pat of a major project to revitalize Centennial Park and make it even more appealing for visitors and residents.
Construction is in Phase 3 right now. When all is said and done, the proejct will include upgraded pedestrian pathways, better car entrances, and parking to improve accessibility for everyone.
Today, crews closed off a section of the loop around Lake Watauga near the parking lot to finish work on the sidewalk.
According to a spokesperson for Metro Parks, the closed portion of the walking loop was "added to the previously closed areas due to construction within the park."
But the portion of the loop next to the Parthenon will remain open during this time, according to Metro Parks.
The loop closure is expected to last until the end of the month, weather permitting, with the north side construction lasting until next fall.
