FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — For the second year in a row, the city of Franklin will host a Mental Health Summit to open the door to conversations surrounding mental health.
The city is partnering with the Williamson Prevention Coalition and Find Hope Franklin to host the summit, which will focus on mental health, brain health and resilience. The event is meant for mental health professionals, parents, educators and teenagers.
There will be a panel where panelists will offer advice to both mental health proferssionals and families. Panelists include brain researchers, mental health advocates, education experts and leaders with mental health-focused organizations. Additionally, around a dozen mental health vendors will be in attendance.
This year's keynote speaker will be MLB & World Series MVP Ben Zobrist, who’s a mental health advocate. Franklin Mayor Ken Moore said long-term, city leaders plan to start a stabilization crisis line to be more proactive about helping citizens in need.
“I want folks to leave having a better understanding of brain health,” Moore said. "I want folks to leave having a better understanding of what the resources are in our community."
The summit will be held on Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. until noon at the performing arts center for the Franklin Special School District. Registration is $20 and is required.
