PUTNAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A search warrant executed at a Cookeville home Wednesday morning led to an arrest and the discovery of drugs, guns and cash, officials said.
According to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, authorities executed a search warrant at a residence in the 700 block of Cardinal Street at 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
An hour later, at approximately 8:40 a.m., a sergeant reportedly observed Kevin Otey driving along Cardinal Street and conducted a traffic stop. Then, the PCSO's SWAT team entered Otey's home.
Inside the home, investigators said they found cocaine, 126 grams of marijuana, ammunition, two firearms —including a 12 Gauge shotgun and 9mm Pistol — and $3,869 in cash.
Officials added that Otey is a confirmed member of the "Traveling Vice Lords" gang and has multiple prior felony convictions.
According to the PCSO, Otey was arrested and charged with two counts of manufacture, delivery, sale of a controlled substance and two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon. He remains jailed on a $850,000 bond and is reportedly scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 27.
Several agencies — including the PCSO, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Task Force, the Algood Police Department and members of Putnam County SWAT — reportedly partnered to execute the search warrant.
No additional information was immediately released.
