OAK GROVE, Ky. (WKRN) — Oak Grove officers arrested an Ashland City man wanted on several outstanding warrants, including being a felon in possession of a firearm.
At about 8:16 p.m. Sunday, Oak Grove authorities received a report of a stolen vehicle at a gas station along Pembroke Oak Grove Road. When officers saw the vehicle and tried to conduct a traffic stop, it fled.
The vehicle was eventually disabled by police, but the suspect — 33-year-old Samuel Barnes — ran on foot. Barnes was apprehended by Oak Grove police after a "brief foot chase," according to a social media post from the department.
After being arrested, Barnes allegedly gave police a false identity. As of publication, he's being held in the Christian County Jail as a fugitive from justice. He's also facing the following charges:
- Criminal mischief in the first degree
- Providing false identifying information to an officer
- Receiving stolen property valued at $10,000 or more
- Fleeing or evading police on foot in the first degree
- Fleeing or evading police in a motor vehicle in the first degree
Oak Grove authorities said Barnes had several outstanding warrants in Tennessee for being a felon in possession of a firearm and burglary, among other charges. However, he will first face charges in Christian County before being extradited to the Volunteer State for his outstanding warrants.
