MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — Crews with the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department helped rescue a baby deer from a storm drain Sunday morning.
Crews with Ladder 4 and Rescue 4 responded to the all near Stones River National Battlefield after someone had heard cries coming from a storm drain in a nearby hotel parking lot. Upon arrival, first responders discovered that a fawn had fallen into the drain and was unable to escape.

First responders with MFRD used some specialized gear to pull the baby deer out of the drain.
The baby deer was checked for injuries and was found to have only suffered from a few minor scrapes, so it was released back into the nearby forest near where it had been found.
"We’re always ready to help—no matter who’s in need,” MFRD Captain Matt Welcome said.
The MFRD encouraged anyone who sees wildlife in need to call professionals.
