SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Sumner County jury found a man guilty of multiple sex crimes, including rape of a child.

Assistant District Attorney Nathan Nichols said that the jury deliberated for an hour following the three-day trial of 45-year-old Jeffrey Lashown Moses before entering a guilty verdict Thursday. He had been indicted by a Sumner County Grand Jury in January 2024 when detectives with the Hendersonville Police Department's criminal investigations division found that Moses allegedly assaulted a 12-year-old child on October 31, 2023.

Nichols said that during the trial, ADAs testified that Moses entered the bedroom as the victim slept and sexually assaulted her in bed. The child immediately told her parents about the rape, who then called police. ADAs said that Moses was arrested on the scene.

Moses has been found guilty of rape of a child, attempted rape of a child and aggravated sexual battery. He will be sentenced July 9 and faces a minimum sentence of 25 years and a maximum sentence of 84 years. Nichols added that because of state law, any sentence imposed would be served without the possibility of probation, parole or any form of early release.
