NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — With several major events in Music City scheduled Saturday, the Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure has warned drivers to anticipate heavy traffic in town.
NDOT specifically cited five major events that could affect traffic:
- At Nissan Stadium, the Savannah Bananas will play the Party Animals. The parking lot will open at noon and gates will open at 4:30 p.m. The game starts at 6:30 p.m.
- At Bridgestone Arena, Shinedown will have a concert. The show starts at 7 p.m.
- At First Horizon Park, the Nashville Sounds will take on the Norfolk Tides. Gates open at about 5:35 p.m. and the game starts at 6:35 p.m.
- At Percy Warner Park, there will be the Iroquois Steeplechase. Events will start with tailgating at 8 a.m. and the last race starts at 5 p.m.
- At Geodis Park, the Nashville Soccer Club will play the Charlotte Football Club. The game starts at 5:30 p.m.
Events are also planned at the Ryman Auditorium, Brooklyn Bowl and the Schermerhorn Symphony Center.
To mitigate some of the traffic congestion, NDOT has partnered with Lime, Spin and Bird to encourage the use of alternative modes of transportation like scooters and bicycles. Anyone who uses the code NDOTSPECIALEVENTS on May 10 will receive a one-time free 10-minute ride on an E-bike or scooter.
NDOT has also encouraged people to consider taking WeGo public transit and utilize rideshare pick-up and drop-off zones at event spaces via Uber and Lyft.
