GALLATIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — The loved ones of a man shot and killed at a Gallatin boat ramp are left with questions.
Officers were called to the Lock 4 Park near the second boat launch ramp at around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday. As of publication, authorities believe 30-year-old Miles Hanna got into a verbal altercation with Will Wheatley, 24, that escalated into a deadly shooting.
Magdelyn Carney, Hanna's prom date in 2013, said the two remained friends ever since.
"I don't know anybody that had anything bad to say about him," Carney said. "He was always laughing, loved cars and obviously loves dogs."
Carney said the community has been devastated by the news of Hanna's death.
"I really just want everybody to know how loving Miles was and how much he was loved," Carney said. "I hope everybody can just kind of get together and support each other through this hard time — especially his family and his dog Oscar."
Wheatley has been charged with homicide, but authorities said the motive is still under investigation.
"I think everybody's still really in shock," Carney added.
Anyone with any additional information about the case has been asked to call Gallatin police at 615-453-1313.
