NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — With farmers markets officially open for the season across Middle Tennessee, fans of locally-grown produce, scratch-made baked goods, artisan products and more are able to support local growers and makers all over Middle Tennessee.

As part of the kick-off to the peak of farmers market season, the Nashville Farmers Market is inviting everyone in town to come to north Nashville for the first big market festival of the season: the 2025 Strawberry Jubilee Festival.

"Our annual Strawberry Jubilee Festival is kicking off our peak season this Saturday at the Nashville Farmers Market," the marketing and events manager for the Nashville Farmers Market, Courtney Cotton, said. "The market actually opened in 1801, and we have been celebrating the Strawberry Festival for several years now."

On Saturday, May 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., everyone is invited to the free family-friendly event. The festival will have live music, cooking demonstrations, animal encounters, food trucks, balloon art, a kids zone and — of course — plenty of fresh produce available for purchase.

"We start the year with the Strawberry Festival in May because our peak season in Middle Tennessee runs from about mid-April to October, November," Cotton said of the start of NFM festivals. "That's when most of the fruits and veggies are harvested here in Middle Tennessee, so we like to kick it off with those fresh berries that everybody looks forward to in the spring."

According to the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, strawberry season in Tennessee typically begins in mid-April. There are at least six different farms that grow strawberries in Davidson County — including Una Acre Farm in Madison, Bells Bend Farms and Green Door Gourmet.

Depending on the weather, the Agriculture Department says strawberry season can last between four and six weeks, making now the perfect time to pick in-season strawberries.

The Strawberry Jubilee will have plenty of strawberry-related goodies on hand, including specialty cocktails from some vendors, special recipe demonstrations from Nossi College of Art & Design's culinary team, and strawberry-themed apparel and accessories.

"We're really excited to be working with them again," Cotton said of the Nossi team collaboration. "We've got an outdoor cooking area — sort of like an outdoor kitchen — so they'll be out there handing out free samples and showing people how they can use strawberries and maximize their flavor in some dishes."

Live music will be provided on two different stages courtesy of local band Trifecta and local artist Abbi Love. Animal encounters will be provided courtesy of the Nashville Zoo, according to the Nashville Farmers Market.

Free two-hour parking is available at the Nashville Farmers Market parking lot at 900 Rosa L. Parks Boulevard. There is also free self-parking available at eight different surrounding lots owned by the state of Tennessee. For full parking options, follow this link.
