BELLEVUE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Metro police say there has been an unusual amount of mail theft in Bellevue.
Thursday night a meeting is being held at the West Precinct for residents to come together to get answers.
MNPD said much of the mail theft is happening in the Sheffield and Rolling River neighborhoods.
Police said while mail theft happens all the time, for it to happen this much in Bellevue is rare.
The meeting at the West Precinct will offer residents an opportunity to talk about this issue and possible solutions.
According to Metro police, says the thieves are mainly targeting checks to steal. Additionally, police said any mail thieves or porch pirates are opportunistic, so the best way to prevent them from stealing from you is not to give them the opportunity.
One way to avoid having your mail stolen, according to police, is to send mail off from your workplace.
