Description

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Marginal Risk and Heat Advisory have been issued for portions of Middle Tennessee and and Southern Kentucky Friday.

A Marginal Risk, level 1 out of 5, for severe weather has been issued mostly along and north of Interstate 40. The biggest storm threats will be gusty winds, heavy rain and frequent lightning.

The reason it's been stormy is a stationary front over the Ohio Valley that is pushing strong storms into Kentucky and northern Tennessee. A high pressure system to the southeast is also bringing dangerous heat into the region.

Storms will start bubbling up through the midmorning and become more widespread through the afternoon and evening. If you do have rain, this will help cool temperatures down.

The biggest storm threats will be gusty winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning. This stays the case Friday and through the weekend.

A Heat Advisory has been issued for Trigg, Christian and Todd counties in Southern Kentucky from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. Temperatures could feel like 103 to 109 degrees,. West Tennessee also has a heat advisory from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The heat continues across Middle Tennessee as well with feels like temperatures in the triple digits through the afternoon and evening.

Copy and paste the forecast into this weekend with steamy conditions, highs in the lower to mid 90s, and afternoon storms.

Scattered storms will be widespread, but expecting lighter rain and faster moving showers for Saturday. This should make it an easier day to get outside if you dodge the showers moving through.

Sunday a Marginal Risk , level 1 out of 5, has been issued for severe weather in northeastern Tennessee. It will be another day of some strong storms possible by the heat of the day.
