SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Two Sumner County police departments are teaming up again to host another event for kids this Saturday.
After a successful Stuff the Cruiser event, Gallatin and Hendersonville police are excited to give out school supplies to kids before they start the school year.
Gallatin Sergeant Jessica Jackson said people around the community came out to Walmart in Gallatin to donate school supplies. Officers from both departments were thrilled they had such a high turnout of volunteers and donations.
Saturday, the departments will host a Back to School Drive pickup event at the Sumner County Sheriff's Office from 9 a.m. to noon or until supplies last. Jackson said the goal of the pickup event is to give all the kids what they need to have a successful school year.
"We also collected some cash donations that we did not expect so we will be able to determine what we have the most of and what we have still have needs for," Jackson said. "We'll purchase those items and be ready for Saturday."
The drive will take place at 117 West Smith Street at the old General Sessions courthouse in courtroom D.
Gallatin officials said their annual National Night Out will be held August 5 for kids and parents to pick out additional school supplies they need.
