NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 37-year-old man was arrested in Old Hickory Thursday after he allegedly took a security officer's weapon and tried to shoot him in the head.
Officers were called to a rehabilitation facility in the 1200 block of Robinson Road around 10:30 a.m.
According to court documents, a security officer was in the parking lot when Justin Miller jumped over a fence onto the property. The security guard told officers Miller spoke to him and tried to get him to hand over his side weapon.
Miller and the security officer struggled over the weapon before Miller gained control. He reportedly put the gun to the victim's head and pulled the trigger, which had its safety on.
The victim got into his vehicle and drove away, during which Miller fired two more rounds at him but missed.
Metro police reported Miller then walked toward the facility and fired at least two more rounds as a Metro officer arrived on scene. The officer took cover behind his patrol vehicle door and yelled to Miller to drop the weapon.
Miller complied and was quickly taken into custody. The officer recovered the weapon, cleared it for safety and stored it until backup officers arrived.
Miller was cleared by a Metro counselor, booked into the Metro jail and charged with attempted criminal homicide. His bond was set at $100,000.
