Description

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Stay alert for potential severe storms Friday and Saturday as Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky is under severe weather risks both days.

An Enhanced Threat, level 3 out of 5, is in effect Friday across most of Middle TN and Southern KY. Northwestern Counties are in a Slight Risk, level 2 out of 5.

The risk was upgraded thanks to confidence for strong winds up to 60+ mph. Hail and strong storms are the other main storm threats with a very low end chance for a spin-up tornado.

The timing of storms starts as early as 2 p.m. in far western counties and continues to move over Middle TN through 8 p.m. The commute home from work could be dangerous with the strongest storms moving over I-65 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

A Marginal Risk, level 1 out of 5, goes into effect Saturday morning along I-65 and east. The cold front that has been bringing rain chances finally moves out but not before bringing in a few storms and gusty winds.

The biggest storm threats for Saturday will be strong storms and gusty winds. The tornado threat and hail threat are nonexistent.

Saturday morning will be wet with storms in the morning that push eastward. Most of the showers will be out of Davidson county by the afternoon. The front stalls in the late afternoon in eastern counties.

Rainfall amounts will range from half an inch to over 2 inches over the next 72 hours.

Monday and Tuesday will be dry with highs in the 70s.
