NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A suspect was arrested in North Carolina in connection with what the Metro Nashville Police Department called a "targeted" shooting at an Antioch park last year.
The shooting had been reported shortly after 5:15 p.m. on Dec. 1, 2024, according to the MNPD, but an investigation revealed that the shooting had actually occurred at about 9:45 p.m. the night before. Days later, the victim in the "targeted fatal shooting" was identified as 23-year-old Mohamed Keita of Riverdale, Georgia.
On Friday, the MNPD posted an update to social media that an 18-year-old had been arrested in Hampstead, North Carolina in connection with the deadly shooting, adding that robbery was the apparent motive.
In March, another teen had been arrested in connection with the shooting, allegedly admitting to MNPD detectives that she had helped set up and participate in a robbery leading up to Keita's death.
The second suspect was 17 years old at the time of the shooting. A charge of criminal homicide is pending against him in Juvenile Court.
