Description

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — One roadway within Radnor Lake State Park will be under construction for several months to undergo repairs.

Otter Creek Road was damaged during the historic flood of 2010, and on Monday, crews will start the process of restriping the west parking area by the visitors' center. Silt fencing will be installed along the roadway and moving equipment and other supplies will be moved to the site. A new guardrail will also be installed.

The full project will start June 1 and continue through October. Starting June 2, visitors to the park will be unable to park along Otter Creek. ADA parking at the dam will also be closed, though the park's automated wheelchair program will remain available.

Jogging, dog walking and bicycling will be limited to less than a half-mile from the west parking area and a half-mile from the east parking areas. Hikers can use the South Lake Trail instead of Otter Creek Road to enter the park.

“We are excited about the repairs on the way because we want our visitors to have the best park experience possible, and this increases our ability to serve everyone,” park manager Steve Ward said. “We are grateful for the support we have in keeping Radnor Lake such a special place.”

As the project progresses, visitors will still be able to circle the lake.
