WHITE HOUSE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The largest city building in White House is nearly complete.

The city's new recreation center will bring tons of exciting features to a quickly-growing community.

Residents just have to wait a few more weeks until it's officially open for business.

Parks and Recreation Director Kevin Whittaker told News 2 people are excited for this brand new amenity.

The rec center will have two full basketball courts, meeting rooms, an indoor track, a weight room, and an e-sports game room.

The city is hoping to draw in children of all ages to enjoy it.

White House is growing fast. The population has shot up more than 30% since 2010, and Whittaker said a new rec center has been a pressing need.

The city was using several schools and gyms to host their rec basketball league, but that won't be a problem anymore.

"We're getting calls—pretty much multiple calls a day—asking when is it going to be open, how can we sign up and everything else like that. We understand the excitement, and we're trying to get it open as soon as possible," Whittaker said.

Whittaker told News 2 the goal is to have the rec center up and running in the next few weeks, though they don't have a solidified opening date yet.
