NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Nashville family is hoping a judge will keep a man accused of murdering their loved one behind bars.
After hours in the courtroom Wednesday morning, the bond hearing is set to pick back up Thursday.
Cecil Holmes Jr. was a family man, a friend and a murder victim.
In 2021, police said he was shot and killed at a Nashville apartment complex parking lot.
His brother, Darrell Holmes, faced the alleged gunman, Tyrone Walker, in court on Wednesday.
"Seeing him for the first time, it brought back a lot of emotions for me and my mom," Darrell Holmes said.
"He had no sorrow," Darrell said. "He has tricked himself into thinking this is self-defense."
The judge plans to pick up on Thursday after wanting more time to review the evidence.
Right now, Walker is in custody without bail, where he has been since his arrest in August 2024.
Metro police released video of his take-down after running from officers.
Darrell said Cecil was not only his younger brother but his best friend.
"I hate that he was taken from us so early, but I will make sure his legacy lives on," Darrell said.
Darrell said Walker and Cecil didn't know each other. He said prosecutors told him if Walker is allowed a bond, it will be set high.
