DONELSON, Tenn. (WKRN) -- Long-awaited changes are coming to the Stones River Greenway.
A week from Monday crews will start working to repair the boardwalk.
This boardwalk has been closed off for a year, blocking people from using that part of the greenway.
The Stones River Greenway extends from the Cumberland River pedestrian bridge near Opry Mills Mall all the way to the J. Percy Priest Dam Trailhead.
The boardwalk makes up a 7.5-mile stretch of the trail south of Kohl's trailhead, but it was damaged during flooding last year.
Metro Parks and Recreation Director Jackie Jones says there isn't a hard completion date because the process is greatly affected by weather.
"Much of the work has to be done from the water, so rain and water released through the dam will affect the length of time that repairs will take. We are hoping to have it reopened in early fall," Jones said.
