Fire Destroys Large Workshop on Cross Plains Road, Two Firefighters Treated for Heat Exhaustion

CROSS PLAINS, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A portion of Cross Plains Road situated in the 7500 block near Owens Chapel Rd was shut down Wednesday afternoon after a large shop building ignited.. MAP

According to Cross Plains Fire Chief Tommy Jackson, the structure—described as a residential workshop/storage building—has been classified as a total loss. The fire was intense, with rupturing propane tanks reportedly scattering debris across the area.

Multiple agencies responded, including Cross Plains Fire, Orlinda Fire, White House Community Volunteer Fire, the City of White House Fire Department, Robertson County EMS, and the Emergency Management Agency. Rehab 83 also responded to provide support and hydration for crews.

Two firefighters required treatment for heat exhaustion due to the high temperatures and strenuous conditions. No other injuries have been reported. The fire has been ruled accidental, and officials say an Amazon driver first noticed the fire and alerted the owners.
