Description

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Anyone planning to drive along Bell Road later this month should prepare for a temporary closure.

Part of Bell Road across J. Percy Priest Dam will be closed for inspection from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. every weekday starting Monday, July 21, through Friday, Aug. 1.

According to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the roadway will be open during the weekend — July 26 and July 27. Pedestrians and cyclists will also not be permitted to cross the bridge when it's closed.

Specifically, the closure will affect the stretch of Bell Road between the intersection with Stewarts Ferry Pike and extends to the overlook parking area on the opposite side of the dam.

Christopher Campbell, a hydropower superintendent with the USACE, said the closure is required so personnel can safely inspect bulkheads and other structures without any interference from traffic.
