NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Metallica is stopping in Nashville for two nights as part of their "M72 World Tour" and News 2 got to take a backstage pass to see preparations for the shows.

On Thursday, Pantera and Suicidal Tendencies will open; on Saturday, Limp Bizkit and Ice Nine Kills will open for the tour. Music City's stops will feature two entirely different setlists and an in-the-round stage design.

A lot of people and equipment made these stops possible, including:

  • 92 truck drivers
  • 2 miles of fiber
  • 588 total speakers, and 144 subbase speakers
  • 72 lights on the field, and 48 moving lights on stage

There is some possible rain in the forecast, but tour coordinator Jon-Michael Marino said the band is ready for anything.

"The band is well-versed in their 42 some-odd years of inclement weather as is our incredible crew," Marino said. "All the gear here is made to be rain or shine, so as long as we can keep things safe for the fans, the show must go on."

Nissan Stadium does not allow umbrellas. In the event of severe weather, the stadium will display important information on video screens. Staff members will help coordinate any necessary shelter-in-place orders.
