WINCHESTER, Tenn. (WKRN) — A person was struck by a stray bullet on Friday in Winchester, authorities said.
According to the Winchester Police Department, officers responded on Friday, July 4, to a report that a person had fallen on Twin Creeks Marina Drive near River Watch Way.
Police said it was originally believed that the person had suffered a medical emergency and fallen. During medical treatment, authorities found the person "was struck by what is believed to be a bullet."
Investigators have preliminarily determined that the bullet was not fired in the immediate area.
WPD officials said the investigation remains ongoing as they continue to get a better understanding of what occurred.
