SPRING HILL, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Spring Hill Police Department has identified a person of interest in the deadly shooting of a 17-year-old over the weekend.

Police said they responded to a reported shooting at an apartment complex in the 3000 block of Commonwealth Drive around 8:15 p.m. on Sunday and discovered a 17-year-old with multiple gunshot wounds. The teen was brought to an area emergency room where he was later pronounced dead.

In a Wednesday press release, the SHPD said a person of interest in the case was recently arrested and is being held out of state on unrelated charges.

According to officials, detectives have been working "diligently" to advance the investigation and "remain committed to bringing justice" for the victim and his family.

No additional information was released.
