Residents and Pets Flee Fiery Springfield Triplex

SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News) – A Springfield triplex erupted into a fireball Wednesday evening, sending two residents fleeing past flames in dramatic footage captured by Smokey Barn News.

The blaze ignited in the middle unit of a three-home structure on 9th Avenue West between Cheathan St and Main St, the first call coming into 911 at 8:36. MAP Video shows two residents from the left-side unit racing out their door with their two pet cats, past the burning center section, and down the porch stairs before being escorted to safety by Springfield firefighters. on the far right also escaped safely with her three dogs. The resident in the middle unit, which sustained the most damage, was not home when the fire started, so we thankfully have no injuries to report. Everyone, including their pets, made it out safely.

Springfield Fire Department, Robertson County EMS, and the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency responded quickly, containing the fire to the middle unit, which officials say is a total loss. The two outer homes were spared from major destruction.

The center-unit resident told Smokey Barn News he was not home at the time, but rushed back after a call reporting smoke pouring from his home. The cause of the fire has not yet been released.
