Head-On Crash on Flewellyn Road Leaves One Injured
SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News) – A serious head-on collision on Flewellyn Road sent one person to the hospital but left two children unharmed Wednesday evening, thanks in part to proper use of safety restraints, officials said.
The crash occurred on Flwwelyn Rd near Mallard Drive when two vehicles collided head-on, causing heavy damage to both, the first call coming into 911 at 7:29 PM. LOCATION OF CRASH According to Robertson County EMS Director Brent Dyer, “An adult male from one passenger vehicle was treated and transported in stable condition with possibly serious facial injuries. The other driver sustained minor injuries and refused ambulance transport.” Two children in that vehicle were out of the car when responders arrived and showed no apparent injuries.
The Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department, Robertson County EMS, the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to the scene. Three ambulances were initially dispatched, though one was reassigned to a nearby cardiac emergency.
Dyer noted the outcome could have been much worse, crediting safety belts and proper child restraints for preventing fatalities. “Even in a serious crash, well-used child safety seats and seatbelts do wonders to prevent worse injuries,” he said.
