NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A new proposal could bring fresh produce to a community in need of it.
Access to fresh produce can make a world of difference in a neighborhood. On Tuesday, Oct. 21, the Metro Council will discuss an original community garden proposed for the Woodbine Public Health Clinic.
The ordinance is sponsored by several Metro Council members, including Ginny Welsch, Brenda Gadd and Jordan Huffman.
Right now, at the center, there are a few garden boxes inside the fenced-in area of the property, but if the ordinance passes, the partnership between the Metro Board of Health and Cosecha Community Development would create a full garden.
CCD is a nonprofit that exists to serve the South Nashville area. They already run several community gardens throughout different neighborhoods and schools. They also focus on education, teaching people how to grow nutritious food in their own backyards.
Metro Council meets at 6:30 p.m.
