NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A rash of car break-ins in a Hermitage neighborhood and residents there say it's been happening more and more often.
Several of those break-ins were caught on home security cameras, and Metro police are investigating.
In the videos, you can see a person in a hooded sweatshirt checking for unlocked car doors in Hermitage early Tuesday morning.
Brittany McCann said she was one of several victims.
"Just leave us alone," McCann said. "Find a hobby and stop making other people's lives harder."
A neighbor found her purse and most of the things inside in their yard.
McCann said this is happening all across her neighborhood in the Highlands of Tulip Grove.
City leaders and police are looking into it.
They said a deterrent is to leave porch lights on and getting to know your neighbor helps.
Metro Council member Erin Evans has a message for thieves.
"We're happy as local elected officials to help connect them to services, like finding a job or if there is something that can help their family," Evans said.
