NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Two Nashville nonprofits celebrated a milestone together this week as they took the next step toward completing a major project for the Bordeaux community.
Last year, Creative Girls Rock and FiftyForward announced that they would collaborate on the construction of a facility to house them. The organizations work to empower women and girls through their creative talents and help adults ages 50 and up find fulfillment through various programs and services respectively. On Friday, members of each nonprofit came together to sign a beam for the new space.
The space will not only serve as home base for both organizations, but it will also provide flex space for other organizations. The idea has been years in the making, and organizers like FiftyForward's CEO, Sallie Hussey, are excited about what the space can bring for Bordeaux residents.
"FiftyForward Bordeaux Senior Center is a place where older adults can come and be together and be a part of community," Hussey. "That's what this building is going to do for not just older adults, but for young girls and families and so many in the Bordeaux community."
The project is estimated to cost about $6 million. So far, fundraising for the project, called the Bordeaux Collaborative, has surpassed $4.6 million. If you want to donate to help support construction efforts, you can follow this link.
