NOLENSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Nolensville Police Department has wanted to implement a bike patrol unit, but it couldn't fit in the budget plans for this fiscal year.
That's when Mercedes-Benz of Music City stepped up to the plate and donated over $5,000 to support the new unit.
Several Nolensville police officers are already bike certified, so this donation came right on time.
Officials said there will be three officers on the unit with the hope of adding more in the future.
Officers will patrol special events like the Nolensville Buttercup Festival and areas with a high volume of pedestrian traffic to ensure safety.

"The officers already being trained are ready to go," Sabol said. "They will also receive additional medical training so that they can provide triage medical aid to individuals who are in need. They'll also be able to access people before other medical responders arrive."
The officers are certified through the Police Bike Association. Officials said the new unit aligns with their goals of providing for the community.
