NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A new amenity is coming to Brookmeade Park.
Music City Disc Golf has funded a nine-hole disc golf course for the park. The Metro Council approved a resolution accepting a grant from the organization at their Tuesday meeting.
Several residents are thrilled that such an amenity is coming to the area. The park used to be the site of a large homeless encampment.
Rebecca Lowe, founder of Reclaim Brookemeade Park, said the park's seen a lot of devastation and she's proud a private business stepped up and took the lead.
"When a private local business stepped up and said that they could do this in our park and not only take the lead with it, but also something that was going to be such a magnet for the community and help increase foot traffic — we just couldn't be more thrilled," Lowe told News 2.
Lowe hopes this is a stepping stone to many other amenities coming to the park.
