GREENBRIER, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man wanted for allegedly choking his girlfriend and pulling a knife on his mother is back behind bars.
Jeffrey Dowlen, 41, is now back in the Robertson County Jail.
According to Greenbrier Police, Dowlen was identified because the woman he was riding with reportedly cut off a Greenbrier police officer, which almost caused a traffic crash.
News 2 has obtained footage of the June 19 traffic stop.
"I appreciate you being cool, man," an officer said in the body camera footage.
Police officers interviewed the passenger, later identified as Dowlen, who was initially deceptive with his identity.
"[They] asked the passenger for his identification. He gave a first name only," Greenbrier Police Det. Joseph Chelini said. "The officers were able to go up and positively identify him based on tattoos and his own admission at that point."
On body camera footage, Dowlen was very calm, even laughing with Greenbrier police officers.
According to records from the Tennessee Department of Corrections, Dowlen was convicted of aggravated robbery in 2009 and sentenced to eight years in prison. He was in TDOC custody until 2012 and then granted parole with his sentence expiring in 2018.
Additionally, arrest affidavits from February revealed that Dowlen choked and beat his girlfriend while they were driving. On May 29, he was accused of another domestic related aggravated assault, this time against his mother.
An affidavit from the Springfield Police Department said that Dowlen was intoxicated and allegedly placed a knife to his mother's throat, telling her that he would kill her. The affidavit also said that he punched his mother multiple times, giving her two black eyes.
